NEWLY RELEASED 2nd edition, DISTANT PULSE (AKA Images), is a light-hearted look at the dark subject of comas and the wonderous power of our own minds.
Imagination can be a powerful tool,
ask any artist. Imagination allows us to create vivid mental, or physical,
images and scenarios that can transport us to different worlds and experiences.
It plays a crucial role in our emotional, social, and cognitive development
from the earliest stages of our development. But beyond the playful and
creative aspects of imagination, it can also be used as a form of protection
when we find ourselves in situations of severe distress.
Stress, trauma, or anxiety, can trigger a range of emotional and physical
reactions and when it becomes too overwhelming, we can feel trapped or
helpless. In the case of a coma patient, our imagination could provide us with
an escape, giving us a sense of control, comfort, and safety, while our body is
busily repairing itself. I found this a fascinating possibility and decided to
make it the premise of my story.
The protective function of imagination can create a mental shield that
blocks the impact of the trauma. As a coping mechanism, it could help a person
survive and provide them with a temporary respite from the pain. What a
powerful tool our imagination can be. It can also entertain us and even earn us
a living, should we be lucky enough to become the best of the best.
Such is the beauty of fiction, one can also share their imagination and
provide others with an escape from whatever stresses they may be facing.
The might of the human imagination is the basis of my latest release
novella, DISTANT PULSE.
From my imagination to yours, I hope
you enjoy it!
