Book Babble

***

In a world where women and children are regarded as fair game for the sick and evil, being a foster kid was like playing the lottery of life. To be adopted into a happy and loving family, Sherlene knew she had won that lottery. She couldn’t have asked for more loving parents. Although if she could change anything, it would be her name.

Adopted at the age of two by police detectives Anastasia and Gary Locke, Sherlene, or Sher to her friends, had gone from Sher Claybourne to Sher Locke … a name that has inspired more Sherlock jokes than she’d cared to count.

Now a private investigator determined to make her own reputation, Sher agrees to meet a mysterious caller at her local library. It’s a decision that gets her killed … temporarily.

Sher wakes up in a morgue, giving the terrified attendant the shock of his career, and discovers death has left her with a few unexpected souvenirs: Inhuman strength, unnerving psychic abilities … oh, and a mysterious cat named Raguel who showed up at her door and never left.

After returning home from the hospital and ignoring every sensible piece of advice, Sher decides to hunt down her killer. Wait, what? No … not killer, attacker.

With the help of journalist Harry Redmond, Sher’s investigation leads far beyond her single attacker. As she peels back layer after seedy layer, Sher uncovers a nightmare of organised crime, child exploitation, and the powerful figures behind it all.

No one expected her to come back from the dead.

And Sher has no intention of dying twice.

With a lot of work and a bit of luck, ‘Beyond Mortal Bounds’ should be in bookstores by the end of the year. Thank you for dropping in, and here’s hoping your days of stress become fewer and fewer.
